City Council Approves Key Measures to Benefit Vallarta Community

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In a recent session, Puerto Vallarta’s City Council approved several important initiatives aimed at protecting vulnerable groups, improving public infrastructure, and promoting sustainable development. These measures reflect the city’s ongoing commitment to improving quality of life for all residents.

One of the approved actions is the launch of an awareness campaign and the formation of protection brigades to combat child labor. The campaign is expected to begin in coordination with the World Day Against Child Labor on June 12, helping raise awareness and safeguard the rights of children and adolescents.

The council also called on the Directorate of Infrastructure and Public Works to urgently address a sinkhole and complete a retaining wall at the Río Cuale market. This safety measure is intended to prevent further damage during the rainy season.

To encourage economic growth and international engagement, Mayor Luis Munguía was instructed to send a formal invitation to international cruise companies, urging them to consider Puerto Vallarta as a port of call. The proposal reflects the city’s efforts to strengthen its position as a key tourist destination.

Other initiatives presented for review include the creation of large-scale statues made from recycled plastic to promote environmental awareness and a new policy focused on educating the public about urban solid waste management.

The council also proposed reforms to various local regulations, such as those addressing women’s right to live free from violence, municipal governance, and public order. Additionally, a request for a loan from the Jalisco State Government was submitted for consideration, seeking a property in the Jardines Vallarta neighborhood to be transformed into a public park and garden.

Finally, a proposal was introduced to establish a permanent maintenance program for the city’s bicycle paths, promoting eco-friendly transportation and ensuring greater safety for cyclists.

These initiatives demonstrate the City Council’s dedication to building a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive Puerto Vallarta for everyone.
