Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – El Colorado is preparing for its highly anticipated annual Paseadas (outings), an event that brings together families from the town and surrounding areas. The festivities, which celebrate a long-standing tradition, will be held on Friday, August 15th, from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at the llano de San Luis. This year’s gathering promises a day filled with camaraderie, entertainment, and local culture.
A Day of Family-Friendly Fun and Safety
Attendees can expect a festive atmosphere with live music, a variety of games, and horseback riding. The event will feature a wide selection of Mexican food and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. A 100% Charro (Mexican horseman) and family-friendly environment is a hallmark of this celebration.
To ensure the safety of all participants, the event will have several measures in place. Access checkpoints will be set up, and there will be a strong presence from Civil Protection, Firefighters, and Municipal Police. These teams will work together to ensure everyone’s well-being, allowing families to relax and enjoy the day without worry. The community is welcome to join this important local tradition and experience a day of cultural pride.

Preserving a Storied Tradition
The Paseadas tradition has deep roots, with newspaper reports confirming its existence since before 1990. The event’s origin is traced back to a group of young horsemen who, after a long day of riding through local areas like El Colorado, El Cantón, and La Desembocada, chose the llano de San Luis as their resting and socializing spot. This historical horseback riding and the camaraderie it fostered laid the foundation for the annual gathering we see today.
This year’s event is supported by the local government, led by Mayor Luis Munguía, who is dedicated to preserving the rich customs of the area and fostering a sense of community in Puerto Vallarta. The community is warmly invited to enjoy the cultural richness of El Colorado and be a part of this special day.
