Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Construction of the long-awaited Amado Nervo Bridge, which will link Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, with Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit, is officially set to begin on June 25. This announcement was made by Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, the Secretary of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT), during President Claudia Sheinbaum’s Mañanera del Pueblo (“people’s morning press conference”) on Wednesday, June 4.
The bridge, which will span the Ameca River, is a key component of a larger effort to improve transportation and foster economic growth in the region. Previously referred to as the Federation Bridge, the Amado Nervo Bridge is anticipated to be completed by 2026.
According to the SICT, the project involves creating a new route that will link Puerto Vallarta with Bahía de Banderas, connecting with Avenida Federación. This new thoroughfare aims to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce travel times between the two areas, benefiting residents, businesses, and tourists.
An investment of 900 million pesos is planned for the full project, with 250 million pesos allocated for the first stage. Governor Miguel Ángel Navarro Quintero shared these figures earlier in the year, highlighting the government’s commitment to major infrastructure improvements.
Once completed, the Amado Nervo Bridge is expected to serve as a vital link, improving regional connectivity and contributing to the economic development of both Jalisco and Nayarit.
