Cryshtian Lizardi Takes the Helm at Guadalajara Intl Airport

Jalisco, Mexico – Guadalajara International Airport has named Cryshtian Amador Lizardi as its new administrator, marking the start of a new chapter in the terminal’s development. He succeeds Martín Zazueta, who led the airport for over seven years and will now take on a broader role as Director of Airports and Regulated Business at Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP).

Amador Lizardi brings more than two decades of experience in the airport industry. His most recent role was as administrator of Puerto Vallarta International Airport, where he oversaw a period of strong growth.

Under his leadership, Vallarta improved air connectivity, expanded international routes, and strengthened its reputation as a key hub linking Mexico with North America. He has also held leadership positions at the airports of Aguascalientes, Hermosillo, and Guanajuato.

With degrees in aeronautical engineering and air business management, Lizardi is well prepared to guide Guadalajara Airport through its next phase of expansion. One of his top priorities is the implementation of the 2025–2029 Master Development Plan, a bold initiative that will invest $22.37 million MXN (approximately $1.2 million USD) to raise the airport’s capacity to nearly 18 million passengers a year.

“My commitment is to advance the key projects that will define the future of Guadalajara Airport,” Amador Lizardi said. These include the construction of a new Terminal 2 and the creation of improved road access, both of which will help streamline operations and improve the passenger experience.

Outgoing administrator Martín Zazueta leaves a strong legacy, having overseen the successful completion of the airport’s second runway in July 2024. This new runway allows for separate landing and takeoff operations, boosting the airport’s capacity by 50%.

As Amador Lizardi steps into his new role, the focus remains on continuity, innovation, and growth. The changes in leadership reflect GAP’s long-term vision for enhancing connectivity and supporting regional development through world-class airport infrastructure.
