Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – The Costa Banderas chapter of Democrats Abroad Mexico invites everyone to join them in a special commemoration of Gay Pride Week.
Aligning with the Vallarta Pride 2025 celebrations, the chapter will present a thoughtful matinee showing of the impactful film Bent.
This event offers a moment to appreciate the significant strides made towards acceptance and equality for LGBTQ+ individuals, while also serving as a poignant reminder of the hardships of the past, reinforcing the importance of continued progress.
“Bent” is a cinematic adaptation of Martin Sherman’s acclaimed stage play, a story that continues to resonate with its powerful message. The film follows Max, a gay man who is tragically sent to the Dachau concentration camp during the Nazi regime. In a desperate attempt to survive, Max initially tries to conceal his sexual orientation, leading to the assignment of a yellow star intended for Jewish prisoners, rather than the pink triangle used to identify gay individuals. Within the camp’s harsh reality, he finds an unexpected connection and love with fellow inmate Horst, who bravely wears his pink label with pride.
The film’s screening will take place on May 20th, from 1:00-3:00 pm at Nacho Daddy. Located at Basilio Badillo 287 in the heart of the Zona Romántica, Nacho Daddy is a full service restaurant and bar. Their menu is loaded with affordable “Mex-Tex” dishes and North American comfort food. The full menu will be available for attendees to enjoy snacks or lunch, along with some of the best margaritas in town!
