DIF and Vallarta Adventures Brought Joy to Local Children

Puerto Vallarta, México – Dozens of children and teenagers from local group homes recently traded their daily routines for the open sea, embarking on a coastal adventure designed to inspire wonder and a deeper connection to nature. This special maritime excursion was made possible through a collaboration between the Vallarta DIF System, led by Lucky Michel, and the social outreach programs of Vallarta Adventures.

The journey offered many of the kids their very first opportunity to step aboard a vessel and explore the Bay of Banderas. As the boat moved further from the shore, the group was treated to the sight of humpback whales breaching the surface, a seasonal spectacle that turned the bay into a classroom without walls.

Beyond the whale watching, the itinerary included a visit to Vallarta Adventures’ Marine Mammal Center where the kids watched dolphin and sea lion presentations, blending entertainment with environmental stewardship.

Biologist Patricia Meneses Escobedo, the Environmental Affairs Coordinator for Vallarta Adventures, highlighted the developmental benefits of such outings. She noted that providing “joy and excitement” is just as vital as the educational components. By seeing these marine animals in person, the children gained a firsthand understanding of the delicate ecosystems existing right in their own backyard. This focus on preservation was further reinforced through a specialized presentation on how to protect marine life for future generations.

This successful coordination involved several key organizations, including the Office of the Attorney for the Protection of Children and Adolescents (PPNNA). Participants included residents from the Instituto Emmanuel PV (boys home), the Casa Hogar Maximo Cornejo Quiroz Orphanage and the Refugio Infantil Santa Esperanza (R.I.S.E. children’s shelter).

As the outing came to a close, the directors of the participating institutions expressed their gratitude to both the DIF and Vallarta Adventures. They noted that for these young people, the day provided more than just a trip; it offered a lasting memory of community support and the beauty of the natural world.
