The holiday spirit is calling, and the Puerto Vallarta System for Integral Family Development (DIF) is encouraging everyone to answer with generosity as it launches Magic Caravan 2025. The campaign welcomes the public to donate new or gently used toys, helping brighten Three Kings Day for more than 6,000 children living in vulnerable communities.
Three Kings Day, celebrated on January 6, is one of Mexico’s most treasured traditions. It is traditionally the day Mexican children receive their holiday gifts, commemorating the arrival of the Three Wise Men. Children eagerly await presents while families gather over hot chocolate or atole and enjoy Rosca de Reyes, the sweet bread that hides a small figurine. Whoever finds it hosts a joyful Candlemas gathering on February 2, complete with tamales and friendship.

During a press conference surrounded by officials and sponsors, DIF president Claudia Peña announced that donations will be received through December 19. She reminded the community that toys must not require batteries and should be free of violent themes, ensuring gifts are safe and enjoyable for children of all ages.
This heartfelt effort will reach boys and girls from infancy to age 12 in communities across Puerto Vallarta, including Ixtapa, Mojoneras, upper Pitillal, Las Palmas and surrounding rural areas. To make giving simple, collection centers are open around the city at DIF Vallarta, the Emiliano Zapata Market, La Lija Sports Complex, Campo Verde School and the Tepeyac Institute.
Peña expressed appreciation for the many partners supporting the cause, such as the Municipal Government, Vallarta Institute of Culture, Municipal Markets, educational institutions, Joya Hospital and the Puerto Vallarta International Airport. With enthusiasm, she invited everyone to take part, saying, “We invite all citizens, businesses, and institutions to join this wonderful campaign promoted by the Municipal DIF System and Mayor Luis Munguía. We look forward to your donations. Thank you very much.”
By contributing just one toy, community members can help create magical memories for a child and keep traditions shining brightly across Puerto Vallarta.
