Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Drag Artist Gouda Gabor, the lost Gabor sister, is entertaining audiences two nights a week at Nacho Daddy this season.
Join Gouda and pianist extraordinaire, Mark Hartman and the talented Sheila on bass, every Monday at 7:30 pm in the upstairs theater space for their fabulous show, Say Cheese. On Tuesdays, you can enjoy Open Mic Night with Gouda Gabor as hostess from 7 pm to 10 pm (no cover). Many entertainers from venues in Zona Romantica join in on the fun and give us a taste of their talent along with impromptu performances from residents and visitors, alike.
Gouda Gabor has spent the last five years performing at Incanto and other venues around town and is thrilled to join the entertainment scene at Nacho Daddy. Gouda & Mark’s new Monday night show, Say Cheese, combines lots of laughs with much-loved Broadway & Pop tunes. Gouda’s a natural at humoring her audience, and her deep, luscious voice is a joy to experience. As an international performer, on both stage & screen, this B.C. gal continues to perform during peak season in Zona Romantica.
Mark Hartman is a much sought-after, pianist, coach, conductor, arranger and composer who continues to work in cabarets and theaters worldwide (Feinstein’s 54 Below, Café Carlyle, Birdland, Rose Hall at Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Carnegie Hall).
This past Monday night, at Say Cheese, Gouda featured special guests, Debby Holiday (daughter of famed songwriter/performer Jimmy Holiday) and Broadway star, David Sabelle (who is currently performing at ACT2PV this season). We were all dazzled by their amazing talent! Debby has 2 more shows coming up this week at Nacho Daddy on Feb 22 at 8 pm & Feb 24 at 9:30 pm.
Gouda charmed us throughout the evening with her wit as she sang a little Broadway, a Rock n’ Roll Medley, and some “ol’ school” favorites. She even sang us her delightful, original, Nacho Daddy song.
The highlight of the evening was a duet by Gouda and Debby Holiday, singing Put A Little Love in Your Heart, the song that skyrocketed Debby’s father to musical stardom.
Tuesday’s Open Mic Night featured a variety of local talent and a group named, ‘The Feather Beaus,’ who are performing at La Catrina Cantina on Saturday, February 24 at 6 pm (no cover). These fabulous men with their 3-part harmony dazzled the crowd.
Debby Holiday also returned to the stage with her fantastic, powerful voice singing a Tina Turner version of the Beatles’ hit, Help! We also heard a song from Deliah Beaucoup (ACT2PV entertainer with a weekly show) and from Miss Kimberly with If I Loved You and a little stand-up comedy from a local favorite. Gene thrilled us with Someone to Watch Over Me.
Lydia Damato, a local animal rescuer and all-around sweetheart, took up a little collection for a dog that she is currently sponsoring and the audience chipped in to help. If you can help with a donation for this needy dog’s medical expenses, contact Gouda Gabor or Lydia Damato on Facebook, or stop by Nacho Daddy.
The evening continued with more fabulous performances. Drop in for Open Mic Night and see the amazing talent that this town continues to draw from.
