Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – In a historic move for Puerto Vallarta, the community of El Colorado has officially been named the city’s sixth municipal district. After years of dedication and hard work, this change marks a positive new chapter for the area, reflecting the city’s ongoing growth.
The decision was approved during a recent City Council session, and El Colorado now joins the existing districts of El Pitillal, Mojoneras, Las Palmas, Ixtapa, and Las Juntas. This expansion is designed to improve city services and better support the needs of its residents.
El Colorado has functional basic services with the capacity for expansion, including reliable electricity, clean water, and sewage systems. The area also has sufficient schools, healthcare facilities, and recreational spaces. A detailed urban development plan is in place to guide responsible and sustainable growth.
Mayor Luis Munguía hailed the move as a significant step forward. “This new district shows that when the community comes together, we can achieve great things. We remain committed to serving our citizens and supporting the development of our neighborhoods,” he said.
Located north of the city along the Highway 544 corridor toward Mascota and Guadalajara, El Colorado is surrounded by communities such as La Desembocada, El Ranchito, El Aguacate, and Rancho Viejo. Its location provides easy access and connects it to the wider region, and its expanding subdivisions make it ideal for ecotourism and agricultural projects.
The district’s Urban Development Plan delineates zones for the protection of historical and cultural heritage, ensuring that growth preserves the character and identity of the area.
With this official recognition, El Colorado is set to play an increasingly important role in Puerto Vallarta’s future.
