Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – During a recent visit to Puerto Vallarta, Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro reaffirmed the state’s commitment to delivering a modern, efficient public transportation system powered by electromobility. The initiative continues to advance with the addition of new vehicles, upgraded infrastructure, and technology designed to improve the daily travel experience.
Governor Lemus announced that the first phase of the project is scheduled to launch during the first week of May with 17 fully electric buses. These units are equipped with air conditioning and advanced technology to provide greater comfort and reliability for passengers. The system is expected to grow in stages, eventually expanding to a total of 39 electric units serving key areas of the city.
As part of the modernization effort, new bus stops will also be constructed by the Secretariat of Infrastructure and Public Works (SIOP). These upgraded stops will offer improved conditions for riders, including shaded waiting areas that provide protection from the sun. They will also feature recharge stations for prepaid fare cards and built-in connectivity to enhance convenience.
Electronic payment will be a central feature of the new system, allowing passengers to pay fares quickly and efficiently. The recharge stations will also offer free WiFi access, adding another layer of convenience for commuters and visitors alike.
The new electromobility route will operate primarily along Avenida Francisco Medina Ascencio, one of the city’s main transportation corridors. The service will extend along the route to Ixtapa and connect to the University Center of the Coast (CUCosta), improving access to important residential, commercial, and educational areas.
Officials noted that the new transportation system is designed to benefit both residents and visitors. Workers in the tourism sector are expected to gain more dependable commuting options, while travelers will enjoy smoother movement between the border with Nayarit and the city’s historic center.
Governor Lemus emphasized that this electromobility initiative forms part of a broader strategy to modernize public transportation, reduce environmental impact, and support long-term sustainability. By investing in cleaner technology and improved infrastructure, Puerto Vallarta continues to strengthen its position as a leading tourist destination while enhancing quality of life for those who live and work in the city.
