Entreamigos San Pancho Community Center December News

San Pancho, Nayarit, Mexico – Entreamigos began in 2006 on a kitchen table in the middle of a San Pancho street. Today, housed in a giant warehouse recognized as a model sustainable facility, it is an active community center with classes and workshops, a scholarship program, a bilingual library for children and adults, a computer center, an extensive recycling program, a gift store and the Recicla thrift shop.

Here’s the latest news from Entreamigos:

HOLIDAY BASKETS

The holidays are officially here! And as the season approaches, our hearts are filled with gratitude for the warmth and love in our community that surround us. However, we are also aware that not everyone is fortunate to experience the same sense of joy and abundance as others. We believe that every family deserves to experience the joy and magic of the holidays, and we invite you to join us in making a difference.

We are continuing our 17 year tradition of organizing and delivering food baskets filled with essential food items and festive treats to those who may be facing challenges during this time. We are asking for your help to bring holiday cheer to families in need within our community.

Your generous donation will directly contribute to creating these baskets and bringing smiles to the faces of those who need it most. Please HERE to offer a donation.

If you will be in San Pancho on December 20th or 21st and would like to help put the food baskets together, we’d love some help! Just send us an email at info@entreamigos.org.mx.

SCAVENGER HUNT FUNDRAISER SUCCESS!

We are beyond thrilled to share the incredible news that our recent Scavenger Hunt library fundraiser was a resounding success! We would like to thank every team captain who took the time to help raise money for this event. Their unwavering support and generosity of time have truly made a difference, and we would like to express our deepest gratitude.

Together, we exceeded our fundraising goal, which will allow us to go buy new books for the library at the book fair in Guadalajara, and also continue to fund our free after school programming offered every day. The donations also enable us to provide educational opportunities for the children, families and adults of our community. This achievement is a testament to the strength and unity of our community. Whether you donated your time, resources, or spread the word, your contributions played a vital role in our success.

It’s inspiring to witness the positive impact we can create when we come together with a shared purpose. This success is not just a reflection of our ability to reach a fundraising goal but a symbol of our shared values and commitment to making our community a better place for everyone.

THANK YOU LIONS CLUB INTERNATIONAL!

Earlier this month we had an amazing visit from the Lions Club International of Portland. 22 volunteers, including 2 ophthalmologists came to Entreamigos to conduct free eye exams for 752 people! They also provided glasses to those who needed them. We are grateful for the generosity of their time and skills to benefit the community. Free eye check-ups can make a significant impact on people’s lives by detecting and addressing vision issues early on. Here’s to the dedicated individuals making a positive difference in eye health! Their expertise and care have not only helped identify potential vision issues but also contributed to the overall well-being of individuals who may not have had access to such essential health care.

Becas support has empowered them to pursue their academic dreams and pave the way for a brighter future. Join us in applauding not just their academic accomplishments, but also the resilience, dedication, and tenacity that brought them to this momentous milestone. You may have noticed some amazing updated murals in and around the building. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to Altair Lopez and Sebollin, the incredibly talented individuals behind the fresh new murals that now adorn our community center walls. From the library, to the tech center, to the recicla park outside, they have transformed our space into a vibrant tapestry of color. The passion they poured into each mural is truly remarkable, and we feel privileged to have such unique and beautiful masterpieces around us.
