Flights to Puerto Vallarta Increase

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Good news came ‘flying in’ last week, when Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) reported an increase in activity at the Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport, which serves Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit. According to GAP, the airport will be receiving 1,132 flights in November, a 21% increase over October.

In the same report, the air terminal operator announced that 15 airlines – 10 international and 5 national – will be flying in this month, with an average of 42 flights per day.

New Routes and Frequencies

American Airlines, the only company that has not stopped flying since the start of the health contingency, will offer new flights in their Dallas-PVR and Phoenix-PVR routes, totaling 148 flights for the month.

Delta Airlines will restart their Atlanta-PVR route with 3 weekly frequencies, and their Salt Lake City-PVR route with 4 frequencies, while maintaining their daily LAX-PVR flights, for a total of 56 projected flights in November.

Alaska Airlines will maintain their frequency of 31 flights connecting Los Angeles, Seattle, San Diego, San Jose, Portland and San Francisco to Vallarta-Nayarit each week. In total it will bring 124 flights to Puerto Vallarta this month.

Southwest Airlines added 2 frequencies from Phoenix last week for a total of 9, and maintains 7 services on its Houston-PVR route. It is projected that by the end of the month Southwest will be providing 64 flights.

United Airlines, which connects the cities of Chicago, Houston, Newark, Denver, San Francisco and Los Angeles to Vallarta-Nayarit, will increase frequencies to 54 weekly flights or 216 for the month.

The PVR airport reports that 9 weekly flights from Canadian airlines West Jet, Swoop, Air Canada and Air Transat, are scheduled to come from Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal.

Nationally, Aeroméxico will continue to offer 6 flights per week from Mexico City, while Transportes Aéreos Regionales (TAR) will maintain its 20 weekly flights from Guadalajara, Aguascalientes, Chihuahua and San Luis Potosí. Aerolitoral and Aeromar will bring 37 flights per week to the Banderas Bay region from Guadalajara and Mexico City.

Viva Aerobús is now offering 29 flights per week, connecting Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara and Tijuana. Volaris offers 28 flights each week from Mexico City, Tijuana, Bajío and Querétaro, and Magnicharters will be offering 2 weekly flights from Monterrey.
