Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Summer news from Galleria Dante, the largest and most eclectic art gallery in Puerto Vallarta, and Di Vino Dante, a chic wine and tapas bar overlooking the gallery’s sculpture garden that serves creative cuisine and cocktails, but first, a personal note from Gena:
Thirty-three years ago my Dad, Joseph Michael Guarniere came into our lives, with a lot of love in his heart, and drive and determination to fulfill his dreams. He has been a force of nature and a true warrior in his fight against Parkinson’s disease.
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend who, to many in the Puerto Vallarta community, was better known as “Pizza Joe.”
He was 72 years young.
In the late 80’s we moved back to Puerto Vallarta to fulfill his dream of owning a restaurant, and that is how Pizza Joe’s was born, years later yearning to surround himself with amazing art and put his art degree to good use, Galleria Dante was born.
To all who knew him he was a loving, generous and compassionate man with a genuine heart, unwavering courage and strength. He did so much for so many, and never asked for anything in return. He lived a fulfilling life, he did and got most of what he wanted in life, yet still had so much left in him to give. He has always been immensely proud of his family and loved his mother, wife, and children so dearly and unconditionally. He forged so many long lasting, true friendships over the years.
We have lost an angel and light in our life, and our community has lost a true icon and patron of the arts. His passion for art, and ancient coins was immeasurable. He was a true and loyal friend. He was witty and quirky, and just loved life. He served his country with pride. He longed to return to Greece and Italy, but he also loved his adopted country, Mexico, and its people.
There will be a celebration of life March 15th, 2021, we will miss him tremendously. Words cannot express how heart broken we are.
