Heartwarming Rescue in Marina Vallarta: Abandoned Dog Finds Hope

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – A small Chihuahua, left behind in a Marina Vallarta condominium after its owners’ arrest, has been rescued and is now receiving care, thanks to the prompt response of Luis Munguía’s government. After a week of being abandoned in a building without access to water or food, the dog’s plight caught the attention of concerned citizens, who alerted the Animal Welfare Department.

Roberto Ornelas Carrillo, head of the department, shared that the rescue operation required careful coordination. With the cooperation of the property owner and legal counsel, the team gained access to the building. The dog was on the top floor, but luckily, an open window allowed them to get in and bring it to safety. Although visibly thin, the veterinarians determined the animal’s health was stable, a testament to the kindness of neighbors who provided food and water.

The government of Luis Munguía, prioritizing animal welfare, will now provide ten days of care for the rescued dog, following established protocols, before initiating the search for a loving, permanent home. The Municipal Shelter and Center for Animal Assistance and Control, located in the Lindavista neighborhood, currently houses many adoptable animals, including 77 dogs and 30 cats, all prepared for adoption through sterilization, vaccination, and deworming.

This successful rescue underscores Vallarta’s commitment to animal protection and responsible pet ownership. To further this mission, the authorities will soon offer educational courses on animal care, fostering a deeper understanding of responsible pet ownership within the community.

The municipal government encourages all residents to continue reporting instances of animal distress, ensuring the well-being of all creatures in Puerto Vallarta.
