Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Get ready for an exciting and enriching experience as the Hummingbird Festival takes flight at the Vallarta Botanical Garden! From Tuesday, August 12, to Saturday, August 16, the garden will be abuzz with activities designed to celebrate these fascinating “flying jewels.”

The festival promises a week filled with engaging options for everyone. Imagine yourself on guided walks, learning surprising facts about hummingbirds and their crucial role in our ecosystem. For those with a creative spark, a variety of artistic workshops will inspire your inner artist. Budding photographers can test their skills in exciting photo challenges, capturing the grace and beauty of these tiny creatures in motion.

Workshops offer a hands-on experience, allowing participants to create unique hummingbird-themed crafts. You can learn to make a hummingbird thaumatrope, a classic optical toy that brings the bird to life with a flick of the wrist. Or perhaps you’d prefer the intricate art of hummingbird origami, folding paper into delicate winged wonders. On other days, you can even craft adorable pipe-cleaner hummingbirds to take home as a souvenir.

FESTIVAL PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:

• Guided Tours: Curious Facts About Hummingbirds will be offered on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings, providing an insightful look into the world of these remarkable birds.
• Hummingbird Thaumatrope Workshops are scheduled for Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, offering a chance to create a fun, interactive craft.
• Hummingbird Origami Workshops will take place on Tuesday and Friday afternoons, allowing you to master the art of paper folding.
• Hummingbird Photo Challenges are set for Wednesday and Friday mornings, inviting participants to capture stunning images of hummingbirds.
• Pipe-Cleaner Hummingbird Workshops will be held on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons, perfect for a whimsical crafting session.

All activities are included with general admission, but workshop spots are limited, so be sure to register on the same day at the Salón de las Flores.

Whether you’re an art lover, birdwatcher, or family looking for a meaningful outing, the Hummingbird Festival offers a wonderful way to connect with nature and creativity in one of Puerto Vallarta’s most cherished outdoor spaces.

Visit the internationally famous Vallarta Botanical Garden located just 30 minutes south of Old Town at Km. 24 on Highway 200 and easily accessible by public transportation and taxi. This 135 hectares wildlife preserve and botanical garden have something fun for everyone. Over 200 species of birds have been observed on the Garden’s grounds. Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit for a refreshing dip in the jungle river. See plantings of vanilla, chocolate, and hundreds of other botanical delights! Authentic Mexican Cuisine is served in the Hacienda de Oro Restaurant from 10 am to 5 pm. The Garden is open daily from 9 am to 6 pm (closed Mondays from April 1 to December 1).
