Jalisco Expands Air Connectivity and Inclusive Tourism Ties

Puerto Vallarta, México – Jalisco is strengthening its international ties as state officials recently completed a successful diplomatic and trade mission in Toronto, Canada. Led by Secretary of Tourism Michelle Fridman Hirsch, the delegation met with major airlines and industry leaders to ensure that the bridge between North America’s northern and southern regions remains robust and accessible for all travelers.

The working tour focused heavily on the logistical backbone of tourism: air travel. Discussions with executives from Air Canada, WestJet, Porter, and Flair Airlines confirmed that flight schedules to Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta will remain steady.

This stability is supported by impressive growth data, as Jalisco welcomed 102,000 Canadian visitors in January 2026 alone. This figure represents a 9.5 percent increase over the previous year, signaling a rising interest in the region’s diverse offerings.

Beyond transportation, the mission sought to tap into high-value economic sectors by partnering with the Canadian 2SLGBTQI+ Chamber of Commerce (CGLCC). This organization represents over 100,000 businesses and oversees a market estimated at 12 billion dollars.

By collaborating with the CGLCC, Jalisco aims to promote inclusive tourism, particularly in destinations like Puerto Vallarta, which already boasts a sophisticated infrastructure designed to welcome diverse global communities.

Governmental coordination also played a central role in the visit. Fridman Hirsch met with Iván Roberto Sierra Medel, the Consul General of Mexico in Toronto, to align promotional strategies and ensure that Jalisco maintains a prominent presence in the Canadian market.

These efforts were amplified through sessions with specialized media outlets, including Travel Week, Travel Pulse Canada, Canadian Travel Press and Open Jaw, where the delegation shared updates on the state’s evolving tourism landscape.

The tour concluded with an immersive event titled the “Jalisco Experience,” held at a local Toronto restaurant. This gathering allowed Canadian tourism partners to engage directly with the culture and flavors of the region.

By combining strategic business meetings with cultural exchange, the Ministry of Tourism continues to facilitate a steady flow of visitors while expanding Jalisco’s reputation as a premier destination for international commerce and leisure.
