Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – Jalisco continues to shine as one of Mexico’s top states for employment growth, securing second place in job creation during the first quarter of 2025. From January to March, the state added an impressive 28,754 new formal jobs, according to recent figures from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS).
This accomplishment highlights Jalisco’s steady progress in expanding economic opportunities for its residents. The state contributed 13 percent of all jobs created in Mexico during this period — meaning 13 out of every 100 new jobs nationwide were generated in Jalisco.
Cindy Blanco Ochoa, Jalisco’s Secretary of Economic Development, credited this success to teamwork between the public and private sectors. “In Jalisco, we are working together to create more opportunities for everyone,” she said. “We will continue to support local businesses so they can keep growing and generating more jobs.”
Breaking down the numbers, January saw 10,459 new jobs, followed by 15,132 in February and 3,163 in March. This momentum positioned Jalisco just behind Nuevo León, which led the country with 35,823 jobs created. The State of Mexico followed Jalisco with 24,875 new positions, while Sonora ranked fourth with 19,539 jobs.
Mauro Garza Marín, State Coordinator of Economic Growth and Development, praised Jalisco’s continued progress. “Jalisco is becoming an economic oasis for Mexico,” he said. “These results reflect the trust that companies have in our state and our ongoing commitment to supporting economic growth.”
Jalisco’s government, through the Ministry of Economic Development (SEDECO), remains focused on creating even more opportunities. Ongoing programs and incentives aim to boost micro, small, medium, and large businesses, helping them expand and generate more jobs for families across the state.
With strong partnerships and a clear focus on growth, Jalisco is well on its way to building a stronger, more prosperous future for its people.
