Jalisco Mexico Job Recovery June 2021

Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – In Jalisco, as of June 2021, 1,820,785 workers are registered in the IMSS (Mexican Institute of Social Security), which has exceeded the number of 1,812,699 employees registered at the end of 2019, the year prior to the pandemic.

For the sixth consecutive month, the state presents positive numbers in job creation. During the month of June 5,178 formal jobs were created, which exceeded the historical average for the month of June and represents 7.9% of the national total.

“These figures are the result of the implementation of the Jalisco Plan for Economic Reactivation, which provided economic support to companies affected by the pandemic, as well as the State’s long-term Economic Development strategy, both implemented by the Government of Jalisco,” highlighted Ernesto Sanchez Proal, head of the Ministry of Economic Development (Sedeco).

“The figures that the IMSS announced today on the generation of more than 5,100 new jobs in Jalisco position us at higher levels than we had at the end of December 2019. In the period of economic reactivation of August 2020 to June 2021, Jalisco was the second largest generator of formal employment in the country, with more than 78,000 new jobs created,” said the State Secretary of Economic Development.

During the aforementioned period of economic reactivation, 78,150 formal jobs were recovered in Jalisco, which is equal to 11.5% of the jobs recovered in the country to date.
