Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Jalisco’s air travel industry has experienced a substantial boost in 2024, thanks to collaborative efforts by the state government and tourism authorities. According to Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), over 5 million passengers arrived by air in the first five months of the year.
Guadalajara International Airport received the majority of incoming traffic, with 3.4 million passengers, while Puerto Vallarta International Airport welcomed 1.6 million.
These positive developments are attributed to initiatives aimed at attracting new flights. The recently launched Vancouver-Guadalajara route exemplifies this success, with additional connections to Toronto and Costa Rica planned for the near future.
“We are witnessing continued positive developments for Jalisco’s air connectivity,” said Vanessa Pérez Lamas, Jalisco’s Secretary of Tourism. “The new routes are a testament to the collaborative efforts undertaken with our strategic partners. We believe enhanced connectivity is crucial for the competitiveness of our destinations.”
The Jalisco Department of Tourism, along with tourism trusts representing both Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta, actively works to strengthen air links through partnerships with airlines and tour operators. As of today, Guadalajara boasts 59 connections, including 31 domestic and 28 international routes. Vallarta offers 47 routes, with 11 domestic and 36 international connections.
