Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The latest news from PuRR Project, a non-profit, no-kill feline shelter just north of Puerto Vallarta that provides homeless cats and kittens a recuperative stay with the ultimate goal of adopting them out to loving homes sterilized, vaccinated and disease free.

ADOPTIONS
Adoptions were slow in June. We were thrilled when David and Bill couldn’t decide on just one… so they adopted all THREE kitties that they met at PetCo!
The PetCo Adoption Center continues to be our best source of adoptions and we bring a selection of PuRR kitties there every weekend. You can check our FaceBook page every Friday to see photos of candidates.
SHELTER UPDATE
We’ve already had five tropical storms or hurricanes on this coast in June! The shelter got a lot of rain and some flooding but no real damage until the evening of June 25th when a tree fell and damaged a section of Marilyn’s Rain Shelter. All cats and humans were reported safe but a portion of the roof will have to be replaced. And 34 new cats & kittens, including 16 abandoned in just two days! It’s going to be a long summer!

FEATURED FELINE: MAMA WILMA
Mama Wilma was left at the shelter in April of 2023 with four tiny babies. We watched the family’s young children crying as the father left the box at the front gate and quickly drove away. Dra. Eva got them settled in a private casita and she was a good mama but none of her babies survived more than a few days. She is about 2 years old, very loving and would make a great companion! Contact Linda at adopt(at)purrproject.com for more information.
DONATIONS
We always need monetary donations but sometimes our volunteers see other things we really need. Dra. Eva was thrilled when Stacy Curtis donated a new refrigerator for the PuRR clinic where we can store all the vaccines and medicines that must be kept cold! Joyce Nordquist then donated a new supply cabinet for the clinic and Carlos Gadea a new gas tank for the dryer! Keeping the PuRR shelter running is an expensive operation and depends solely on individual donations during the summer months to pay for food, medicines, cleaning supplies, electricity and many other things. If you would like to make a contribution, visit our website. And remember, we are a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit with Tax exempt receipts for US Dollar donations.
GRACIAS! THANKS! MERCI! DANKE! ARIGATO!
We want to send a BIG Thank You to Angus MacDonald, Steve Stowell, Renee Heider, Shari Stone-Ulrich and Casa Isabel for generous donations in June!
As always, we are grateful for those monthly donors who are so essential to our success: The McCullough Family Gift Fund, Gary Phillips, Sharon & Ken Rose, Terri & Gray Levy, Joanne Bryla, Trisha Aljoe, Pat & Sandy Glenn, Catherine Goglia & Jim Shoemaker, Karen & Walt Trolson, Robert Weed, Jerry Petrizzo, Heidi Benedict, Timothy Oleno, Larry Sherwood, Mary & Bob Fitzgerald, David Flannery, Elizabeth Fuerherm, Janice North and Katie Hannasch.
