Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – The Las Juntas Interchange continues to take shape as one of the most important mobility upgrades in the Puerto Vallarta region. Opened to traffic on September 30, the overpass delivered on a commitment made by Governor Pablo Lemus and Mayor Luis Munguía, allowing vehicles to move more freely through what was once one of the area’s most congested intersections.
While traffic has flowed smoothly since the opening, construction has remained active on key enhancements designed to improve safety and access for all users. These include the completion of side lanes, sidewalks, storm drainage systems, new traffic signals, and a modern pedestrian bridge that will provide a safer crossing over Federal Highway 200.
The pedestrian bridge has shown clear and steady progress in recent days. Although the original schedule called for completion by December 15, crews installed the first upper section of the bridge on December 14. During the night of December 16 and into the early morning of December 17, the second main structure spanning the south-to-north lanes was successfully put into place.
To carry out this work safely, municipal traffic authorities implemented a special mobility plan that included partial lane closures and temporary detours. These measures helped reduce disruptions, particularly for drivers traveling from Puerto Vallarta toward Bahía de Banderas, Nayarit.
While an official completion date for the pedestrian bridge has not yet been confirmed by the State Secretariat of Infrastructure and Public Works, authorities anticipate that the full structure will be installed before the end of the year, pending formal confirmation.
At the same time, complementary improvements continue throughout the Las Juntas junction. Ongoing work includes upgraded sidewalks, new access lanes serving the Las Juntas neighborhood, landscaped areas, and redesigned U-turns. Together, these efforts form part of a broader road modernization project aimed at improving mobility, safety, and connectivity in this strategic corridor linking Jalisco and Nayarit.
