Losanna Díaz Wins KWC Mexico, Heads to Las Vegas

Puerto Vallarta welcomed some of Mexico’s most talented amateur singers on August 3 and 4 as the national finals of the Karaoke World Championships (KWC) Mexico took center stage at Coco Cabaret in the Romantic Zone.

After weeks of qualifying rounds at La Catrina Cantina and two days of competition featuring 27 outstanding vocalists, Losanna Díaz Ávila claimed the title of KWC Mexico 2026 National Champion. Her victory earned her an all-expenses-paid trip to represent Mexico at the Karaoke World Championships World Finals, which will be held October 25-29 at the Veil Pavilion inside the Silverton Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Losanna impressed the judges with her powerful vocals, versatility, and commanding stage presence throughout the competition. She was presented with the national title by KWC México Director Yudi Villamonte, host Alberto Ponce, and the panel of judges following the final performances.

Losanna first gained national recognition as a contestant on La Voz México in 2021. Since then, she has become a familiar presence on Puerto Vallarta’s entertainment scene, performing throughout the city and across Mexico. Her tribute shows featuring the music of Jennifer Lopez, Selena Quintanilla, and Christina Aguilera have earned her a loyal following at The Palm Cabaret, Coco Cabaret, and other local stages.

Founded in Finland in 2003, the Karaoke World Championships has grown into the world’s largest amateur singing competition, bringing together performers from more than 30 countries across six continents. The event provides aspiring vocalists with the opportunity to perform on an international stage while celebrating talent, passion, and musical excellence.

This year’s World Finals carry added significance. Following the cancellation of the previous championship, the 2026 event will feature an expanded competition, bringing together national champions from both recent qualifying cycles in Solo and Duet divisions. Winners will receive cash prizes, trophies, sponsored awards, and an invitation to perform at the following year’s Karaoke World championships.

Hosting the KWC Mexico National Finals also gave Puerto Vallarta another opportunity to showcase its growing reputation as a destination for major cultural and entertainment events. The city has already enjoyed success on the international KWC stage. In 2023, Puerto Vallarta resident Luis Villanueva, originally from Chiapas, Jalisco, teamed with Diego Mendoza Martínez of Monterrey to win the Duet Category at the KWC World Championships in Panama City.

Now, Losanna Díaz will carry Mexico’s hopes to Las Vegas this October, where she will compete against top amateur singers from around the world for one of the most prestigious titles in international karaoke.
