Madonna Tribute Starring Kami Desilets at The Palm

The looks, the moves, the songs you love-
-An hour of pure energy celebrating the Queen of Pop-

Vallarta’s own ‘Chameleon of Characters’, Kami Desilets joins the 22nd season of entertainment at The Palm Cabaret by paying tribute to the many different faces of the Queen of Pop. From Like a Virgin and True Blue to Vogue and Express Yourself, you’ll enjoy your favorite iconic Madonna hits from the 80’s and 90’s, while a team of dancers recreates her music videos and memorable television moments live on stage.

Kami Desilets is a vocalist, dancer, actor, choreographer, and director originally from Winnipeg, Canada who is known in Vallarta for always changing hats and constantly surprising audiences with her vast range of talent. Vallarta audiences will recognize Kami as the leading lady in numerous musicals and dramas (Avenue Q, They’re Playing Our Song, The 39 Steps, Quiler Cuin), from her triple-threat solo shows, as a cabaret hostess and performer (The Nacho Daddy Variety Hour), and from girl-group vocal trio “Girls Night Out”.

Behind the scenes, they’ve enjoyed her work from the director’s chair (Toothpaste and Cigars – Thumbtack Theater, It’s a Wonderful Life: a Radio Play at Act2PV), as dance choreographer (Rocky Horror Show, They’re Playing Our Song – Act II), and as “Fairy Drag Mother” for annual women’s shelter fundraiser What A Drag! (Shanda Leers – 2019 pageant winner).

Internationally, you may recognize Kami’s work from the Canadian Fringe Theater Festival circuit, the Winnipeg jazz music scene, numerous Manitoba Arts festivals (Carol Shields Festival of New Works, Folklorama, Master Playwright Festival, Fem Fest) and even as the voice of “Lani” in the Netflix cartoon Tayo the Little Bus (seasons 1 & 2).

But before it all, when Kami was a pre-teen in performing arts classes, she was learning vocal mimicry, jazz and hip-hop dance moves, and self-expression from the one and only Madonna. Now, after a year and a half of global shutdowns, and restrictions on putting together the type of entertainment she thrives on, Kami is very eager to re-emerge, and reinvent herself yet again, in true Madonna fashion with the Express Yourself – Madonna Tribute.

Audiences will be delighted with this Gen-X trip down memory lane as Kami sings and dances the songs that they love, changes costumes and wigs to recreate the looks you know, and acts like the chameleon of characters that she is.

Joining Kami on stage will be 4 dancers: Reina Elizabeth, Perla Castillo, Tracey Talks and Jesus Bastidas, all with a wide range of experience from 25+ years of Mexican Folklorico to the self-taught street; bringing a unique passion and energy for Madonna’s iconic music video dance moves, along with original choreography by Vegas starlet Hannah Brady.

The team of four has worked together in Nu Name Productions’ performance of Chicago, and are eager to get back to the stage together to celebrate the 80’s and 90’s in Express Yourself – Madonna Tribute. It is a solid hour of pure energy that will make you want to leap out of your seat to dance and clap along.
