Major Investment to Revitalize the Heart of Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – More than 100 million pesos will be invested in the coming year to transform and preserve the heart of Puerto Vallarta. During a recent meeting of the Historic Center Citizens’ Council, officials presented an ambitious plan to renovate some of the city’s most iconic spaces using resources from the Tourism Trust Fund.

The initiative, promoted by the administration of Luis Munguía González, seeks to recover public areas, celebrate local culture, and enhance the charm that defines this world-famous port city. Among the projects scheduled to begin in 2026 is the rehabilitation of the Cuale River Island with an investment of 29.9 million pesos, breathing new life into one of Vallarta’s most beloved cultural and natural spaces.

The plan also includes the architectural illumination of the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe with 5.7 million pesos, further highlighting the beauty of the city’s most recognizable landmark. A new arts and gallery district will be consolidated with a 12 million peso investment, encouraging creative expression and supporting local artists.

Other projects include the renovation of the Mirador de la Cruz viewpoint with 18.5 million pesos, maintenance at Playa Los Muertos with 4.4 million, and the enhancement of the “Friendly District” in the Romantic Zone with 10 million pesos. Additional upgrades will be made to the downtown streets of Pipila, Abasolo, Josefa and Zaragoza, including the construction of an amphitheater, totaling 9.5 million pesos.

Beyond the city center, 10 million pesos will be used to improve the gastronomic district in Versalles, while 4 million pesos will go toward rehabilitating the scenic trail connecting Boca de Tomatlán to Quimixto, further enriching the city’s eco-tourism appeal.

The management and coordination of these projects are being led by Puerto Vallarta’s City and Historic Center Management division, directed by Juan Pablo Martínez, with support from the Strategic Projects Department.

Together, these efforts represent a strong commitment to preserving Puerto Vallarta’s heritage while preparing it for a more sustainable and culturally enriched future.
