Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – A public transport bus lost control Monday evening and crashed into the “Ay Güey!” store on Ignacio L. Vallarta Street in Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone. The accident, which occurred just before 7:00 p.m., was reportedly caused by a mechanical failure when the vehicle’s auger ruptured, leaving the driver unable to steer properly.
The bus veered onto the sidewalk and struck the storefront, causing significant property damage. Several passengers were on board at the time of the crash. Emergency responders from Civil Protection and Firefighters quickly arrived to assess the situation.
Two passengers sustained serious injuries – one with a suspected femur fracture and another with hip injuries. Paramedics from the Red Cross and a private ambulance service provided medical assistance before transporting them to a hospital for further treatment.

The bus driver suffered an arm injury and received on-site medical attention. Municipal Roads officials coordinated with the vehicle’s insurance company to arrange compensation for those affected. Authorities also notified the Public Prosecutor’s Office to follow standard legal protocols.
Local authorities are currently investigating the precise cause of the mechanical failure and assessing the extent of the damage to the “Ay Güey!” storefront. Roads officials are working with the bus’s insurance company to ensure a smooth resolution for all involved. The Public Prosecutor’s Office has also been notified, as per standard procedure.
