Mexico City – Mexicana de Aviación continues to expand its services, bringing travelers more opportunities to explore Mexico. On Friday, March 28, the airline resumed direct flights between Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) and Puerto Vallarta, adding two weekly flights to its growing network.
After suspending eight routes earlier this year, including the AIFA-Puerto Vallarta route, Mexicana analyzed market conditions and travel trends before deciding to reinstate select destinations. Based on this analysis, the airline prioritized reinstating Puerto Vallarta and Monterrey, working toward a goal of expanding its network to 14 destinations by the second half of the year.
The AIFA-Puerto Vallarta service now operates on Fridays and Sundays. Flights depart AIFA at 8:45 am, arriving in Puerto Vallarta at 10:10 am. The return flight takes off at 11:37 am, reaching AIFA at 12:58 pm.
According to FlightAware, the inaugural Friday flight departed at 9:03 am and landed at 10:36 am. The return trip, operated on a 180-seat Boeing 737-800, was at full capacity.
This reinstated route arrives just in time for the busy Easter holiday season, providing travelers with more choices and special promotions.
Looking ahead, Mexicana’s Master Business Plan outlines an ambitious expansion, aiming to connect AIFA with destinations such as Tijuana, Mazatlán, San José del Cabo, Guadalajara, Mérida, Campeche, Tulum, Chetumal, Ciudad Victoria, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Ixtepec, and Palenque by the end of the year.
With these efforts, Mexicana de Aviación is strengthening its presence in the aviation market and offering more seamless travel options across Mexico.
