Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – A long-awaited improvement has finally come to fruition for the picturesque coastal village of Boca de Tomatlán. After years of anticipation, a new exit road, named Pelícano Street, was officially opened last week, marking a significant milestone in the community’s development and bringing relief to thousands of monthly visitors.
The opening of Pelícano Street is expected to resolve the frustrating traffic congestion that has long plagued the town, particularly on weekends and during peak holiday seasons. For most of its history, Boca de Tomatlán, a community essential to the origins of Puerto Vallarta, operated with only one road serving as both the entry and exit point. This singular access often resulted in significant bottlenecks.
The project, which began construction in March with a substantial investment of 4.7 million pesos, was a key commitment made by Mayor Luis Munguía. The new road seamlessly connects the pueblo to Federal Highway 200, providing a dedicated path for vehicles leaving the area and thus ensuring a much smoother flow of traffic.
Mayor Munguía emphasized that this new infrastructure represents a major step forward, restoring a sense of social justice to the historic community. He stated that his administration is dedicated to strengthening the economy and fostering the development of these founding communities through meaningful projects.
The positive impact of the new exit is already being felt and celebrated by local residents. Leslie Melchor Bravo, speaking on behalf of the community, expressed deep gratitude for the completion of the project. She noted that managing traffic with only one road during busy seasons was extremely complicated, and the new road will greatly facilitate the movement of vehicles, benefiting everyone who lives in or visits Boca de Tomatlán.
Mayor Munguía concluded the inauguration by reaffirming his commitment to the future of the community. “This is the heart of Vallarta,” he declared. “We will continue working to ensure that Boca de Tomatlán flourishes with more projects, increased tourism, and expanded opportunities for its people.” The new Pelícano Street is already paving the way for a more accessible and prosperous future.
