Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México – The mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Luis Munguía, has announced that the new pier in Mismaloya is nearing completion and will soon be inaugurated.
In a recent social media update, Munguía said the project has reached its final stage, with only minor technical details remaining before the official opening.
The new pier features upgraded infrastructure designed to serve both residents and visitors. Improvements include beach walkways, modern lighting and high-speed internet access through Red Jalisco. Located about 20 minutes south of downtown Puerto Vallarta, Mismaloya continues to attract travelers seeking natural beauty and coastal experiences.
According to the mayor, the new infrastructure will strengthen tourism in the southern part of the municipality by improving conditions for recreational boats and tour operators. The project is expected to streamline maritime services while enhancing safety and accessibility.
Munguía emphasized that the work was carried out with respect for Mismaloya’s natural surroundings. The goal, he said, is to support local economic growth while preserving the area’s historic identity and tourism value.
He noted that the pier responds to a long-standing request from residents and service providers who depend on reliable maritime access. By improving facilities, the city aims to increase visitor flow and reinforce Mismaloya’s role as one of Puerto Vallarta’s most emblematic coastal spots.
On a broader scale, the completion of this pier serves as a vital link in a regional maritime strategy known as the “nautical staircase.” This initiative aims to enhance connectivity across Banderas Bay by creating a reliable network of transportation and access points between various coastal villages.
As the final inspections conclude, municipal authorities expect to announce a formal inauguration date in the coming days, marking the beginning of a new chapter for maritime travel in the Banderas Bay region.
