Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México – The coastal village of Mismaloya now has a new pier designed to improve maritime transportation and support tourism along Puerto Vallarta’s southern shoreline. The project was officially inaugurated Wednesday by Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro and Puerto Vallarta Mayor Luis Munguía.
This new infrastructure forms part of the broader Banderas Bay nautical ladder initiative, which aims to connect key coastal locations through maritime routes. With this addition, travelers can now move more easily between the Playa de los Muertos Pier, the newly opened Mismaloya pier, Boca de Tomatlán, and Las Ánimas Beach, creating a more efficient and accessible network along the coast.

Governor Lemus explained that the project is designed to enhance maritime mobility while encouraging sustainable tourism in the region. The development represents an investment of approximately 80 million pesos and also includes a 350-meter linear park. This new public space offers visitors and residents a safe, well-lit walkway along the shoreline, creating a welcoming area to enjoy ocean views and community gatherings.
Mayor Munguía highlighted the direct benefits the pier will bring to local residents and tourism service providers. By improving access to the southern beaches, the project supports both daily transportation needs and economic activity. Mismaloya, known for its fishing traditions and strong tourism workforce, is expected to gain new opportunities as maritime connections expand.
City officials emphasized that the new pier strengthens coastal development while preserving the character of the community. By improving transportation options and adding attractive public spaces, the project supports continued growth in tourism and enhances quality of life for residents in Puerto Vallarta’s southern communities.
