Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The Host Committee of the Puerto Vallarta Chili Cook-Off is made up of 15 volunteers dedicated to making the event the best it can be. They are also firmly behind the principles of the Jay Sadler Project A.C. and the good works it does in the under-served communities of the area.
As the Jay Sadler Project is the sole beneficiary of this fundraiser, and the Cook-Off is the main source of funds for this non-profit, the postponement of the 11th annual event was heartbreaking and potentially financially devastating.
In light of all this, and in fairly record time – it’s been less than 2 weeks since they got the news – they have agreed on a new date and venue. Their goal was to hold the event fairly soon so people are still in town, but also give them some time to readjust and put on a great event.
As such, the 11th Annual Puerto Vallarta Chili Cook-Off will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at Salón Rancho Alegre.

Salón Rancho Alegre is a wonderful facility with plenty of free parking and a large covered venue area. This facility is regularly used for a variety of functions including weddings, quinceañeras, receptions, etc. There is a huge built-in stage where we will have four of the best bands in the area plus Mariachi. They like this venue a lot since it is in the heart of the area that the Jay Sadler Project A.C. regularly serves – they just did a refurbishment on a playground in the next block.
The lineup is to be announced but is little changed from the original lineup. The next Chili Digest will update you on that. If you’re a fan of some of the hottest bands in the area (Calavera Beach, Charlie Higgins and Sunset Station, Texas Embassy Blues Band) you will want to find your way to Salón Rancho Alegre on the 23rd. Premium Tickets Back Online Soon
Unfortunately, with the postponement of the Chili Cook-Off, a lot of premium ticket holders were forced to ask for a refund, as they were not going to be in Puerto Vallarta on March 23.
Once those refunds have been processed, those premium seats will open for sale on the event’s online sales portal. If you were shut out from either the Gold, VIP, or Colonnade areas, this is your chance to reserve seats/tables in those areas (along with the premiums each area offers).
If you purchased in the Colonnade because either the Gold or VIP areas were full, this is your chance to upgrade. If you do wish to upgrade from one level to the next, please send an email to jim(at)pvchilicookoff.com, to first request a refund of your current ticket(s) and then re-purchase at the new level.
