Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Death, a universal human experience, is perceived and celebrated in various ways across different cultures. The expressions of death in music are equally diverse, reflecting the idiosyncrasies of a place, the era it was composed, and the unique vision of its creator.
In a special Día de Muertos concert, the Orquesta Sinfónica Vallarta (Vallarta Symphony Orchestra), in collaboration with the Coro Puerto Vallarta and Coro Bucerías, will take audiences on a captivating journey through the spectrum of human emotions tied to mortality.
This unique musical experience, set against the backdrop of the Day of the Dead, will encompass the solemn and tragic perspective inherent in Mozart’s Requiem, the hope, resignation, and glimpse of paradise encapsulated in Fauré’s Requiem, and the lively and colorful vision of death as celebrated in Mexican traditions with songs like “La Sandunga” and “La Llorona.”
