Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Classical music fans won’t want to miss the upcoming performances by the Puerto Vallarta Symphony Orchestra (Orquesta Sinfónica Vallarta – OSV). Their latest concert, “One,” celebrates the universal language of music, blending sounds from Japan, Austria, Africa, and Mexico to create an unforgettable experience.
- Sunday, April 6, 2025, at 7:00 pm – American School of Puerto Vallarta
- Monday, April 7, 2025, at 7:00 pm – Salón Paraíso, Nuevo Vallarta
The concert will feature two exceptional guest soloists: young Mexican pianist Diego Meza and renowned shakuhachi specialist Bruce Huebner from Japan. The shakuhachi, a traditional bamboo flute with a rich, meditative sound, has been used for centuries in both classical music and Zen practice.
Huebner will also lead a flute masterclass on April 8 at 4:00 pm. To register, contact iampvinfo(at)gmail.com, or send a WhatsApp message to 322-133-8913.
Supporting Music Education in Puerto Vallarta
These performances are just a glimpse of IAMPV’s efforts to nurture musical talent in the region. The organization is seeking support to provide instruments, lessons, and instructors for young musicians. A donation of 10,000 pesos funds 25 music lessons, helping to shape the future of aspiring artists. Many former students have gone on to professional careers, crediting IAMPV as a life-changing experience.
IAMPV is also working towards establishing a permanent home. Currently, rehearsals and lessons are held at borrowed locations like the American School and Estación Gourmet. The organization envisions a dedicated space with:
- A large, air-conditioned rehearsal room for 40 musicians
- Secure instrument storage
- Dedicated teaching spaces
- Convenient access to parking and public transportation
To contribute to this initiative, contact iampvinfo(at)gmail.com.
