Over 2 Tons of Trash Removed from Two Puerto Vallarta Beaches

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Saturday, July 26, more than 450 dedicated volunteers joined forces for a massive cleanup effort on Puerto Vallarta’s Camarones and Olas Altas beaches. This initiative, led by Councilman Christian Omar Bravo Carbajal, president of the Clean and Certified Beaches City Council, resulted in the collection of over two tons of trash, with plastic being the predominant material.

The widespread participation highlighted a strong community commitment to environmental stewardship. Alongside Councilman Bravo Carbajal, the cleanup saw the involvement of Council members Laurel Carrillo, Erika Rubio, and Víctor Bernal Vargas, Municipal Trustee Dr. Francisco Sánchez, various municipal agency directors, local beach vendors, the Red Rehabilita organization, and numerous engaged citizens. Their collective efforts ensured a thorough cleanup.

Councilman Bravo Carbajal noted that recent heavy rains had unfortunately washed a considerable amount of debris into the ocean, making the cleanup particularly challenging. However, he emphasized that such events underscore the critical need for public awareness regarding pollution prevention in beaches, streams, and rivers.

This recent cleanup marks the 38th such event organized during the current administration, led by Luis Munguía, bringing the total amount of collected waste to more than 152 tons.

Councilman Bravo Carbajal praised the community’s dedication, stating, “Citizen participation is essential to keeping Puerto Vallarta’s beaches clean, and this initiative is a clear example that together we can make a difference.”

The consistent efforts demonstrate a shared vision for preserving Puerto Vallarta’s stunning coastal environment for residents and visitors alike.
