Pfizer Shipments Arriving in Mexico City

Mexico City – A new batch of anti-covid vaccines from the pharmaceutical company Pfizer-BioNtech arrived at Terminal 1 of the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) on Tuesday morning. The flight from Brussels, Belgium, which carried 585,000 doses of the vaccine, landed in national territory at 9:17 am.

The shipment was received by the director of Biologicals and Reactives of Mexico (Birmex), Pedro Zenteno Santaella, who joined the morning press conference to report on the event.

During ‘La Mananera,’ the Undersecretary of Health, Hugo Lopez-Gatell, indicated that one million 420 thousand 380 doses will be received from Pfizer-BioNTech throughout the week.

“We are already receiving them from the United States … this will allow us to have a similar amount each week, we expect to receive almost a million and a half doses of vaccines every week, at least between now and the end of June,” he said.

As of May 10, Mexico has received or packaged 27,093,685 doses of ready to be applied anticovid vaccines according to the Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard.

When will more vaccines arrive?

Between 11 and 17 May, Mexico expects to receive 2,317,640 doses of ready to apply anticovid vaccines:

May 11: 585,000 doses of Pfizer
May 12: 250,380 from Pfizer
May 13: 585,000 from Pfizer
May 15: 500,000 doses of Sputnik V

In addition, on May 15 there will also be CanSino vaccines available: 397,225 packaged in Mexico, 35,000 packaged in China and 290,000 bulk doses.
