Puerto Vallarta Airport Nears 7 Million Passengers in 2025

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México – The Puerto Vallarta International Airport closed 2025 on a high note, welcoming nearly seven million passengers and setting a new all-time record for the destination. According to the Pacific Airport Group (GAP), total traffic reached 6,947,700 passengers, a 2.1 percent increase over 2024, underscoring the airport’s steady growth and strong year-end performance.

December played a key role in that achievement. During the final month of the year, the airport handled 712,900 passengers, marking a 4.0 percent increase compared to December 2024. This growth aligned with broader gains across GAP’s 12 Mexican airports, which together posted a 4.2 percent increase in passenger traffic for the month. Within the group, Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara stood out with solid advances, even as some destinations saw modest declines.

Over the full year, all GAP-operated airports in Mexico recorded growth, though volumes varied widely. Puerto Vallarta’s 2.1 percent rise placed it among the more stable performers, reflecting its consistent demand in both domestic and international markets. Passenger totals climbed from 6.8 million in 2024 to just under seven million in 2025, reinforcing the airport’s importance within the national aviation network.

International travel continued to play a central role in Puerto Vallarta’s success. For the year, international traffic slightly exceeded domestic volumes, highlighting the destination’s ongoing appeal to foreign visitors, particularly from North America. Sustained demand on international routes helped strengthen air connectivity and supported tourism throughout much of the year.

Domestic travel showed especially strong momentum toward the end of 2025. In December alone, 268,000 passengers arrived on domestic flights, a 7.9 percent increase compared to the same month in 2024. This late-year surge pushed total domestic traffic to just over 3.1 million passengers for the year, representing nearly a 10 percent increase and marking a notable gain for the local market.

International traffic totaled approximately 3.8 million passengers in 2025. While December international arrivals rose modestly to 444,900 passengers, the international segment as a whole ended the year slightly below 2024 levels. Even so, international travel remained a key pillar of overall airport activity and a defining feature of Puerto Vallarta’s air traffic profile.

Together, these results reflect a year of balanced growth and resilience for Puerto Vallarta International Airport. By combining steady domestic expansion with a strong international presence, the airport capped 2025 with record-setting passenger numbers and a solid foundation for continued development.
