Puerto Vallarta Airport Saw Nearly 700,000 Passengers in January

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The Puerto Vallarta International Airport experienced mixed passenger traffic in January 2024, based on data from the Pacific Airport Group (GAP). Overall, the airport handled nearly 700,000 passengers, representing a 1.9% increase compared to January 2023.

However, this increase was driven solely by international traffic, which grew by 8.2% to 498,800 passengers. Domestic traffic, conversely, decreased by 11.1% to 201,100 passengers compared to the previous year.

Despite the mixed performance, Puerto Vallarta Airport secured the third spot for passenger traffic among Mexican airports in January, surpassing Los Cabos’ 655,000 passengers. Guadalajara held the top position, followed by Tijuana.

Nationally, the availability of seats in January 2024 dipped 3.7% compared to January 2023. However, the load factor, or the percentage of occupied seats, climbed from 78.8% to 81.4%, indicating more efficient seat utilization.

Overall, while Puerto Vallarta Airport saw an increase in total passenger traffic, it was driven by international demand. Domestic travel declined, mirroring a slight downward trend observed across all 12 Mexican airports managed by GAP, where total passenger traffic dipped by 1.6% in January 2024.
