Puerto Vallarta Beach Volleyball Tournament Promotes Inclusion

Puerto Vallarta is preparing to transform Camarones Beach into a premier destination for athletic excellence and community unity this month. On February 28, the city will host the Diverse Metropolitan Beach Volleyball Tournament, an initiative designed to champion civic participation through the lens of competitive sport.

Scheduled to begin at 8:00 am, the event invites residents from both Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay to gather for a day centered on mutual respect and shared goals.

This ambitious project represents a coordinated effort led by the Sub-Directorate of Sexual Diversity under the administration of Mayor Luis Munguía. By working alongside the Municipal Sports Commission (COMUDE) and the Sports Commission – chaired by Councilwoman Erika García – local officials have created a platform where sports serve as a bridge between various social groups.

The tournament welcomes a wide range of participants, including local youth, people with disabilities, members of indigenous communities, and the LGBT+ community, ensuring the sands of Camarones Beach reflect the diverse makeup of the region.

The collaborative spirit of the event extends beyond government offices and into the heart of the community. Advocacy from figures like VicKo Torres of the Diversity Council has been instrumental in turning the abstract concept of inclusion into tangible, organized action.

By involving both the private sector and local citizens, the project aims to create a sustainable model for social impact, where the benefits of the gathering resonate long after the final whistle.

Ultimately, the tournament serves as a public declaration of Puerto Vallarta’s identity as an open and welcoming destination. By prioritizing the rights and dignity of every participant, the city reinforces its reputation as a supportive environment for all.

Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to attend and support the athletes, celebrating a day where teamwork and community pride take center stage.
