Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta is gearing up for an exciting winter season with boosted connectivity from its second most significant international market, Canada. Starting in October, a surge of flights from Canada will mark the beginning of the winter season with 12 destinations and 53 weekly operations, all operated by WestJet.
These flights will offer a diverse range of options for travelers journeying from every corner of Canada, spanning coast to coast. The cities benefiting from direct flights to the Puerto Vallarta International Airport include Abbotsford, Calgary, Comox, Edmonton, Kelowna, Prince George, Regina, Saskatoon, Toronto, Vancouver, Victoria, and Winnipeg. With these operations, the airline will increase the offer of seats to the metropolitan area of Puerto Vallarta by 19%.
On select days, the Vancouver-Puerto Vallarta route will be served by Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, boasting a capacity of 320 seats. This substantial increase in seating options ensures a considerable monthly influx for Jalisco’s premier sun-and-beach destination. This gives winter tourists from Canada the opportunity to experience first-hand the hospitality of the city, as well as enjoy its more than 50 outdoor activities in this cosmopolitan destination surrounded by nature.
WestJet Airlines is the Canadian carrier with the highest number of operations to the destination from the maple leaf nation. Last season, the airline amassed up to 183 monthly operations, and for the autumn-winter season of 2023-24, it is primed to elevate this number to 212. This strategic surge solidifies Puerto Vallarta’s status as a favored sun-and-beach haven for the Canadian market, whose winter pursuit of the warm climate characteristic of Mexico’s Pacific paradise continues unabated.
