Puerto Vallarta has taken a significant step towards improving public safety with the recent installation of 120 new emergency response poles throughout the city. These innovative devices, known as Tótems, are easily recognizable by their blue color and the word “alerta” prominently displayed.

The “Alerta” Tótems, equipped with surveillance cameras, speakers, and panic buttons, provide citizens with a direct and efficient way to instantly report crimes, accidents, fires or medical emergencies. These poles are strategically placed in high-risk areas to ensure rapid response times.

When activated, the “Alerta” Tótems send real-time alerts to the city’s Command and Control Center (C2), allowing for immediate dispatch of emergency services. This comprehensive security initiative, funded by FORTUNUN resources and started under the previous mayor’s administration, aims to reduce crime and improve overall safety in Puerto Vallarta.

By empowering citizens to report incidents directly to authorities, the “Alerta” Tótems serve as a valuable tool in preventing and addressing emergencies.

Beyond the installation of the Tótems, Puerto Vallarta is also boosting safety measures by increasing police presence in high-risk zones and installing additional surveillance cameras. This comprehensive effort is part of the city’s broader strategy to ensure the safety and well-being of its residents and visitors alike.

To further support these initiatives, the city plans to launch promotional campaigns aimed at preventing violence, particularly among vulnerable groups, while encouraging community involvement in safety efforts.

With these new blue Alerta poles, Puerto Vallarta is making great strides in creating a safer, more secure environment for all.
