Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, México – Puerto Vallarta continues to strengthen its digital infrastructure, surpassing 300 free public internet access points through the State Digital Network, Red Jalisco. The achievement reflects ongoing efforts to expand connectivity and create new opportunities for residents across the region.
Led by the Government of Jalisco, Red Jalisco has already reached more than 2 million users in all 125 municipalities. By delivering reliable, high-speed internet to communities, the program is helping close the digital divide and supporting access to essential tools for education, employment, and public services.
To build on this progress, Puerto Vallarta recently hosted a regional working session with municipal leaders from coastal and southwestern areas, along with representatives from the state’s Connectivity and Internet Access Agency. The meeting focused on strengthening coordination and expanding coverage, particularly in underserved communities.
On behalf of Mayor Luis Munguía, Ángel Marcial Carrillo, manager of Organization and Strengthening of Public Service, highlighted the city’s achievements. He noted that more than 300 connectivity points are now active, including over 20 in public spaces, making it easier for residents and visitors to stay connected throughout the city.
Education remains a central focus of the initiative. In Puerto Vallarta, 184 schools now have internet access, providing students and teachers with valuable digital resources that support learning, reduce inequality, and help prepare young people for a technology-driven future.
The project also stands out for its community-focused approach. By working with smaller telecommunications providers and extending service into areas often overlooked by larger companies, Red Jalisco is creating a more inclusive and accessible network.
Looking ahead, municipal and state leaders have committed to maintaining close communication to ensure the Red Jalisco system remains reliable and continues to grow alongside the needs of the community.
