Puerto Vallarta Expands Security, Advances Recovery

Puerto Vallarta is entering a period of renewed stability as local and federal authorities join forces to ensure the safety of residents and visitors alike. Following Sunday’s blockades and fires, Mayor Luis Munguía announced a comprehensive security strategy designed to restore full confidence in the city’s streets and world-class tourist zones.

The arrival of additional Mexican Army personnel marks a significant step in this reinforcement effort. These troops join the crew of the Mexican Navy ship ARM Usumacinta (A-412), which docked earlier this week to provide logistical support. Mayor Munguía emphasized that this increased military presence is a proactive measure aimed at maintaining peace in strategic areas, ensuring that the daily lives of citizens remain uninterrupted.

This security initiative is part of a seamless collaboration between municipal, state, and federal levels of government. During an interview following yesterday’s Flag Day (Día de la Bandera) ceremony, the Mayor noted that coordination with state authorities is flowing exceptionally well. This unified front is specifically focused on increasing patrols around educational centers and public spaces, allowing families to return to their routines with total peace of mind.

The city is already seeing tangible signs of progress. Banks, businesses, grocery stores and restaurants are steadily reopening. Cleanup crews and municipal teams have been working diligently to rehabilitate areas affected by Sunday’s events, supporting local businesses in their reopening efforts. As a result of these quick actions, Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus has officially lifted the “red alert” status, signaling a return to normal operations throughout the city.

Education also returns to the forefront of the community, with schools set to reactivate all classes today (Wednesday, February 25). The reopening of the classroom coincides with a broader economic recovery, as shops and services across the port resume their standard schedules. Mayor Munguía highlighted that the goal is to return to the city’s high level of productivity and tourism as quickly as possible.

To complement the physical security on the ground, a new international promotion strategy is being launched to remind the world that Puerto Vallarta remains a premier, safe destination. By focusing on urban improvement and the steady flow of basic supplies, the administration is ensuring that the city’s reputation for hospitality and tranquility continues to shine.
