Puerto Vallarta Launches Free Mobile Medical Unit for Those in Need

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Since December 18, Puerto Vallarta residents have had access to a new initiative by the Municipal Government, led by Mayor Luis Munguía. Fulfilling a campaign promise, the city now operates a free mobile medical unit designed to bring essential healthcare services to vulnerable and hard-to-reach areas.

The mobile medical unit is a fully equipped vehicle staffed by trained health professionals, offering both basic and specialized medical services. Its primary mission is to provide timely and accessible care for individuals who face geographical, economic, or social barriers to visiting clinics or hospitals. This initiative underscores a commitment to health equity, ensuring all residents have access to quality medical care.

Services Offered at the Mobile Clinic
Currently stationed near the basketball court in Colonia Ramblases, the clinic operates from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with services available Monday through Wednesday this week. On Thursday and Friday, it will move to Colonia 1 de Mayo, maintaining the same hours. Future locations and schedules will be announced on the program’s Facebook page.

Services include:

  • General Medical Checkups: Two general practitioners are available to measure blood pressure, temperature, weight, and height, assess overall health, and recommend further treatment if necessary.
  • Dental Care: A dentist provides oral health education, basic cleanings, and routine dental checkups.
  • Nutritional Guidance: Two nutritionists focus on diabetes prevention, offering personalized diet recommendations and nutritional education.

What to Bring
The services are free for all Puerto Vallarta residents. To access them, bring a CFE or water bill and your INE identification card. While permanent residency cards may or may not be accepted, it is recommended to bring a CFE bill and ID with your name to ease access.

A Step Toward Health Equity
The free mobile medical unit is a significant step toward promoting health equity in Puerto Vallarta, a city with diverse needs due to its rural areas, indigenous communities, and bustling tourism. By delivering healthcare directly to underserved neighborhoods, the program aims to enhance the quality of life for residents and strengthen the city’s social and economic fabric.

With this initiative, Puerto Vallarta reaffirms its commitment to guaranteeing the universal right to health, demonstrating how innovation and community-focused governance can create a healthier, more inclusive future.
