Puerto Vallarta Makes Strides in Water Infrastructure

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico – Puerto Vallarta is making meaningful progress in its efforts to address water challenges and ensure a more reliable supply for residents. SEAPAL, the city’s water utility, is actively working to modernize the water infrastructure and is on schedule to improve water availability by early September.

At a recent meeting of the SEAPAL Vallarta Board of Directors, a report detailed the progress of several key projects designed to increase water production and improve supply to homes across the city. The meeting, which had a legal quorum, was attended by Mayor Luis Munguía and SEAPAL Director Carlos Ruiz, along with 12 council members representing various community sectors. The group reaffirmed their dedication to strengthening the city’s water utility.

Among the most important projects are the construction of three new filter galleries on the Mascota River. These galleries will enhance the Radial Well’s water intake. Additionally, three wells in the Ixtapa area – wells 19, 38, and 1 – are being re-drilled to improve their output. These initiatives are part of a broader plan to improve the water supply in the northern part of the city and the El Pitillal district.

Mayor Munguía praised the SEAPAL team for their efforts and collaboration in improving services for citizens. He also expressed excitement about the upcoming inauguration of these projects, which he believes will solidify the city’s commitment to its residents.

SEAPAL Director Carlos Ruiz highlighted that these investments are a major advancement in providing a consistent water supply to local families. He noted that these projects stand in sharp contrast to the lack of new water sources and rehabilitation efforts in previous years. The completion of these works marks a positive step forward for Puerto Vallarta’s water future.
