Puerto Vallarta Mayor Pushes for New Passport Office Launch

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The government of Puerto Vallarta, led by interim Mayor Francisco José Martínez Gil, is actively seeking to expedite the opening of new Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) offices in the Puerto Mágico shopping center. These offices will streamline the passport issuance process for Puerto Vallarta residents.

The urgency for the new office’s opening was emphasized during a recent visit by Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs María Teresa Mercado Pérez, who came to Puerto Vallarta to attend the institutional protocol event that welcomed the Italian ship Amerigo Vespucci to our port last week.

After the ceremony, Mayor Martínez Gil highlighted the facilities’ readiness, stating they’ve been prepared for over a year. He expressed gratitude for the SRE’s support and requested a faster launch to improve citizen convenience. He hinted at a possible opening before the current federal and local administrations end their terms.

Earlier in the week, Martínez Gil toured the completed SRE office facilities. The new location boasts features designed to enhance the citizen experience, including same-day passport processing and issuance.

The waiting room will be comfortable and include a dedicated children’s area. Designated cubicles will ensure a smooth flow during processing procedures. The office will also feature a biometric system area and a dedicated space for document delivery.
