Puerto Vallarta on High Alert as Rainy Season Intensifies

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – With recent heavy rainfall across the city, the Puerto Vallarta municipal government, led by Luis Munguía, has declared a 24-hour state of alert to swiftly address any emergencies. This proactive stance aims to safeguard residents throughout the rainy and hurricane season, which typically runs from June to October.

In a critical coordination meeting, Secretary General of the City Council, José Juan Velázquez Hernández, and Director of Civil Protection and Firefighters, Misael López Muro, brought together various municipal departments. These included Efficient Services, Infrastructure and Public Works, Quality of Life and Social Development, Public Safety, Transit and Communications, among others. The focus of the meeting was to strengthen inter-departmental cooperation and ensure a unified response to weather-related incidents.

Secretary General Velázquez Hernández stressed the government’s commitment to round-the-clock operations, emphasizing the goal of minimizing rain-related damage and effectively meeting community needs. He urged citizens to stay informed through official government channels for updates and safety recommendations.

Director López Muro confirmed the municipality’s preparedness for potential weather emergencies, noting that the 2025 Pacific hurricane season, which began on May 15 and concludes on November 30, is predicted to be more active than usual. He also reaffirmed that the Municipal Civil Protection Council will remain in continuous session to coordinate response efforts throughout the season.

The municipal government is equipping its teams with necessary resources and trained personnel to respond to community needs. This collaborative approach, involving various agencies, organizations, and the public, is crucial for strengthening the city’s resilience. Residents can be assured that their safety and well-being are top priorities for the Puerto Vallarta government.
