Puerto Vallarta, México – As the holiday season draws to a close, Puerto Vallarta is turning holiday cheer into environmental action. Under the leadership of Mayor Luis Munguía, the city has launched its natural Christmas tree collection program, as part of the Todos contra la basura (“Everyone Against Trash”) initiative.
By providing residents with accessible disposal options, the Directorate of Efficient Services aims to keep the municipality’s streets, rivers, and natural landscapes clean.
This organized effort ensures that seasonal greenery is handled responsibly rather than being left on public sidewalks or in vacant lots. Proper disposal is essential for maintaining the city’s visual appeal and protecting local ecosystems from potential blockages or fire hazards. The municipality encourages all community members to participate in this collective effort to uphold a clean and orderly environment for every resident and visitor.
To make participation as convenient as possible, several collection points have been established across the region. In the heart of the city, residents can drop off their trees at the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Complex (municipal stadium) near the flagpole. Those living in the La Bobadilla neighborhood can utilize the Alfonso Díaz Santos Sports Complex, while the La Lija Sports Complex offers a drop-off point at its Guatemala Street entrance.
Further outreach extends to the surrounding communities, with dedicated sites at the Ixtapa Dome parking area and the public square stages in both Las Mojoneras and Las Juntas. Teams will be performing daily pickups at these locations through January 15. This window of time allows families to conclude their celebrations while contributing to a sustainable start for the new year.
