Puerto Vallarta Poised for Strong End-of-Year Tourism Season

Puerto Vallarta is looking forward to a successful closing to the year in tourism, with projections indicating high hotel occupancy throughout December. The city’s Director of Municipal Economic Promotion and Tourism, Alejandra Cornejo Cornejo, shared that the overall outlook for the holiday period is robust, suggesting the month will conclude with impressive figures.

While the beginning of December typically sees moderate demand, the forecast shows that the rest of the month will compensate, allowing the area to close with an average hotel occupancy between 80 and 82 percent. This is considered a highly favorable figure for the region.

The last week of December is expected to be particularly busy, with occupancy rates predicted to exceed 95 percent. Cornejo also anticipates that hotels and vacation rentals will be completely full on the final weekend of the year.

The positive outlook is fueled in part by an expected increase in Canadian visitors, supported by new winter-season air routes. While arrivals from the United States dipped slightly earlier in the year, a strong holiday rebound and consistent domestic and Canadian travel have kept Puerto Vallarta’s tourism levels in line with those of 2024.

In preparation for the influx of year-end visitors, authorities have already launched a joint security operation. This initiative involves cooperation among all three levels of government and authorities from Bahía de Banderas, ensuring the safety of both tourists and residents throughout the holiday season.

“We are ready to welcome those who visit us this December, and we are confident that we will close the year with very positive figures,” Cornejo concluded, reinforcing the city’s readiness for a cheerful and productive holiday season.
