Puerto Vallarta Prepares for Comprehensive Port Security Drill

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – The Secretary of the Navy, in collaboration with the Twelfth Naval Zone, will be conducting a level 3 port protection exercise on November 28 at the maritime terminal. The goal is to assess the effectiveness of protection plans and participating companies.

The drill, held in conjunction with all three levels of government, will take place at the Port Precinct facilities of the Administration of the National Port System of Puerto Vallarta (ASIPONA PV) and its surroundings.

This real-scale exercise aims to evaluate protection plans and enhance coordination with port and external authorities in potential threat scenarios.

The presence of the Secretary of the Navy within the port area and its surroundings highlights the active participation of various authorities at all three government levels.

This action allows the Secretary of the Navy, acting as the National Maritime Authority through the Mexican Navy, to assess the training levels of naval personnel and collaborating authorities. These measures underscore the commitment to maritime and port security, ensuring the safety of all parties involved.

The drill adheres to the Ship and Port Facility Protection Code (ISPS) by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and international agreements and treaties. Its objective is to safeguard human life at sea, aligning with certification processes in the international maritime field, where Mexico plays a crucial role.

In case of emergencies at sea, citizens can contact the Twelfth Naval Zone at 322-221-1123, and the Secretary of the Navy provides the following contact number: 800 MARINA 1 (800 627-4621).
