Puerto Vallarta Prepares for Vibrant Carnaval Celebration

Puerto Vallarta is gearing up for a festive celebration from February 22 to 24, embracing the spirit of Carnaval with the theme “Dance, laugh, and celebrate.”

The event promises a lively lineup, featuring diverse live music performances spanning mariachi, norteño, DJ sets, and banda, set across four stages in the neighborhoods of 5 de Diciembre, Downtown Puerto Vallarta, and the Romantic Zone.

Kicking off the festivities on February 22 at 6:00 pm, the search for the Puerto Vallarta Carnival Queen will take place at Los Arcos del Malecón amphitheater, accompanied by surprise guests.

Continuing the jubilant atmosphere on February 23 at 6:00 pm, Plaza Lázaro Cárdenas will host the elections for the LGBTTTIQ+ Queen and Queen XL, alongside the official presentation of the Ugly King.

The grand finale unfolds on February 24, with a spectacular parade commencing at 5:00 pm on Francisco Medina Ascencio Avenue, culminating on Rodolfo Gómez Street with an exit to the highway to Mismaloya. Revelers can expect six stages along the route, offering an array of music and dance performances until midnight.

Carnival holds a special place in Puerto Vallarta’s history, with its roots tracing back to 1956. Revived in 1992 as a tourism initiative, and later gaining momentum in 2008 with the “Mardi Gras Parade, Carnival of Puerto Vallarta,” initially catering to the LGBT community, the celebration now embraces inclusivity, welcoming all to partake in the city’s cherished tradition.

As preparations unfold, the anticipation builds for a joyous carnival, uniting communities and embodying the essence of Puerto Vallarta’s vibrant culture.
