Puerto Vallarta Promoted During NYC’s Cinco de Mayo Celebrations

New York City – The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust is ramping up promotional efforts to increase international airlift and brand recognition. As part of this strategy, Puerto Vallarta was the featured destination at a Mexican Consulate event in New York City’s Times Square on May 5th.

The event aimed to capitalize on the high foot traffic (over 280,000 people) attending the popular Cinco de Mayo celebrations. Digital displays and on-site activities showcased Puerto Vallarta’s Mexican cultural identity and enticed visitors to choose this popular beach destination for their next vacation. The upcoming Vallarta Pride celebration was also promoted.

Beyond public outreach, the Trust is scheduled to hold media briefings facilitated by PTG, a public relations agency. Additionally, a training lunch will be held on May 7th for approximately 40 New York travel industry partners, including wholesalers, travel agencies, media representatives, and social media influencers.

This collaborative effort is spearheaded by the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust and the Consulate General of Mexico in New York City. Local stakeholders, including the Puerto Vallarta Municipal Directorate of Tourism and Economic Development and the President of the Puerto Vallarta LGBTQ+ Business Association, are also involved.

The initiative follows positive air arrival statistics for the first four months of 2024. According to Puerto Vallarta International Airport data, international passenger arrivals have grown by 9.6% compared to the same period in 2023 (1.93 million vs. 1.76 million).
